Pullman Center Business Park Expansion

The Community Development Corporation of Butler County has acquired 42.414 acres of land in the former Trinity Industries facility in both the City of Butler and Butler Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania. This expansion will serve as a catalyst to renovate and rehabilitate the land by means of converting existing buildings and constructing ready sites suitable for office and/or light manufacturing.

The City of Butler, Butler Township, the City Redevelopment Authority, and the Community Development Corporation have joined to complete revitalization of over 60 acres of the city. Revitalization includes business park expansion, main street revival, and community assets components. The Pullman Center Business Park Expansion is considered a significant Brownfield site that can be captured and converted into viable use immediately.

This park, which is part of a larger blighted area, will begin the next logical step in the City’s revitalization plan of that will be followed by new transportation corridors, new residential housing, and new commercial buildings. The state has participated in several redevelopment projects in the area of the West End of the City of Butler including the redevelopment of the former Pullman Standard Plant.

History of Site - The Trinity Property was originally the Standard Steel Car Company which began operating in 1902 constructing rail cars. In 1929 the Standard Steel Car Company merged with Pullman Incorporated creating Pullman Standard. During the late 80’s Pullman Standard sold the site (94 acres) to Trinity Industries. The Community Development Corporation of Butler County gained control of 50 acres which was developed into a mixed use development including a shopping mall, several office buildings, and a speculative manufacturing building.
