Victory Road

The large smoke stacks and gigantic steel structures of the USX sintering plant often seemed incongruous nestled between the rolling farms and idyllic landscapes of rural Clinton Township. In 1988 when USX shut the Butler County plant down, the jobs lost only added to the irony of this pastoral setting. The vacant plant and surrounding 425 acres left Butler County with one of its largest brownfields and seemingly few options for revitalization.
