RT. 228 Join The Alliance
This corridor is a pathway to growth and opportunity. While it runs through Cranberry Township, soon to be home of Westinghouse Electric's World Headquarters, it connects three counties, two interstate highways, and dozens of communities. Its improvement and expansion is vital to the economic health of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Major improvement plans have been proposed over the years only to become stalled by budgetary constraints or by challenges of working through fragmented municipalities and jurisdictions, yet the development has not. Each year, more and more people travel Rt. 228 to their jobs, to shopping and to their homes. Hundreds of children board and ride school buses that travel this congested road. It's not a matter of whether the improvements are needed or not but rather how quickly can the improvements be made.
The Route 228 Regional Corridor Alliance is an advocacy group comprised of business, government and community leaders. The goals of this volunteer organization are to advocate for Route 228 improvements, to be the voice of the business community regarding this issue, and to keep this important project at the forefront of economic and transportation issues.
Help us move the East-West Route 228/Freedom Road/Crow's Run Corridor projects forward! Contact your local legislators, community leaders and other officials and tell them this project is important to the region. Tell them it's vital to all of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Tell them it's time to get improvements underway.
